2026 NL West Divisional Odds Preview: Favorites & Best Bets

This Is The Dodgers’ Division

I don’t really think there’s much to say here about the Dodgers that hasn’t already been said.

1. They’re World Series odds favorites by a land mile. 2. They’re NL Pennant odds favorites by two land miles. 3. They’re NL West Divisional Odds favorites by at least a light year.

With a lineup that on paper seems just utterly unfair to have to face, spearheaded by Shohei Ohtani, a starting rotation that’s flat out scary, with Ohtani in it as well, and adding Edwin Diaz to an already stacked bullpen to cap off what feels like a literally unbeatable team, at -800 odds it makes perfect sense to see why there’s such an immense gap between LA and all other teams in the division.

Fade Padres, Believe In The Giants, Keep An Eye On The Diamondbacks

Is it just me that’s wondering when MLB predictions experts are finally going to wake up from that fantasy dream land in which the Padres finally get over their slump and make a proper divisional, league and World Series title run?

After keeping fans on the edge of their seats, mainly because of how they took to spending money to boost their roster in recent years, it’s time to recognize one thing.

San Diego was never going to be a title contender, not back in the day in the team’s prime and not more so now, when everything around Petco Park feels stale, worn out, washed up, whatever you want to name it.

At +900 odds to win the division, I would just go ahead and stay away from the Padres altogether.

Moving on to a team with a more positive future scope, while beating the Dodgers out of the divisional title feels like a gargantuan feat, if I had to put my money on one team in this division giving LA a run for its money, it would have to be the Giants.

Starting out the season with +1600 odds to win, San Francisco has always proven to love being a thorn in LA’s side, be it because of both teams’ historic rivalry or just because.

With a good offense, good defense, promising rotation and Oracle Park playing as a pivotal factor in their favor, I like the Giants this season.

Lastly, can you imagine if the Diamondbacks managed to bring its rotation and bullpen to the level of talent and explosiveness its offense has?

It would make Arizona’s +2000 odds to win the division one of the best deals.

But with so much competition within the division, while I wouldn’t be caught dead betting on AZ to win the division, I can definitely see them playing second fiddle to San Francisco in trying to knock the Padres to the bottom side of the divisional standings.

No Rockies, No.

With the Colorado Rockies there really isn’t much to say.

After losing 119 games last season, let’s call a spade a spade here. This Rockies team has nothing, absolutely nothing.

Their rotation and bullpen is a joke, just like the lineup, both on offense and defense. And if there were ever any signs of a winning culture trying to be started in the organization, they were probably a hoax.

I’m sorry Rockies fans but at +25000 odds to win the division, running into a brick wall repeatedly until it decides to move to the side and let you pass feels like a more rational thing to do than betting on Colorado to win the NL West.

2026 NL West Division Best Bets

To close out this predictions article let’s do a fun little exercise.

Since we already covered what each team will potentially bring to the table in the NL West, let’s narrow down the field even further, scoping out what the best future bet for each team is.

  • Dodgers: Staying away from World Series odds or NL Pennant odds, if I were to bet on anything LA related, I’d take the team’s under in total wins for the season.

Why?

Even if they’ve built the best team pro baseball has seen in recent times, that doesn’t make them unbeatable. Plus, considering all teams around the league will prepare to try and beat them at least once, taking the Dodgers to finish the regular season with just under 103.5 wins (-130) feels like the best bet.

  • Padres: I’m sick of waiting on the Padres to finally live up to the hype they always manage to build before the season starts.

San Diego has enough firepower on offense to post a potential title run. But between a lack of power in the starting rotation and being consistently inconsistent, I’m taking a stance right now and choosing to fade the Padres this season.

At -140 odds, I’ll put money on the Padres not making the playoffs this season and so should you.

  • Giants: On the other hand, do you know who I do believe will make it to the playoffs, probably with the last wildcard spot in the National League?

Yes, the Giants.

I respect what they did this offseason, and their upside feels much more enticing than anything San Diego can offer.

With +170 odds to make the playoffs, taking the Giants playing October ball could end up being one of the biggest MLB betting odds steals of the season if it ends up hitting.

  • Diamondbacks: If there was a future bet based on run scoring alone, I’d hammer the over on that pick right away for Arizona.

There’s so much firepower on offense that it’s a given this D-backs team will be a team always worth betting the over on this season.

Hoping the team can manage to boost its starting rotation and bullpen before the start of the season, I’ll trust the Diamondbacks to win over 79.5 games this season (-125).

  • Rockies: It shouldn’t come as a shock that the online betting market for the Rockies this season is as slim as slim can be.

Just because this team looks destined to be terrible once again this season, it doesn’t mean there’s literally nothing worth betting on.

Banking on the Rockies to look at 2026 as the first true year in a complete rebuild, I’ll take the plunge here and bet on them to win over 55.5 games at -130 odds because come on, after a season like last year, I don’t think you can go anywhere lower than rock bottom, right?
